Anna Hazare rejects government's proposal giving Lokpal limited power over CBI, says government's intentions not clear.

Removal of Lokpal members through impeachment is impractical  - hasn't worked even for corrupt judges, said Mr Bhushan.

All corruption investigation now has to be done through an agency which remains under the administrative control of the government, which is more often than not party to the corruption, Mr Bhushan added.

Lokpal needs to have its own investigation agency. CBI remains under control of govt according to the Lokpal Bill.

Mr Bhushan said: He objects to the proposed selection panel for the nine members of the Lokpal. Not OK to have PM, Leader of Opposition (who someday hopes to be PM) and Chief Justice select the ombudsman. It will result in a weak pliable Lokpal. Chief Justices can also be corrupt.

Anna Hazare's aide Prashant Bhushan has rejected the draft of the Lokpal Bill that has been cleared by the Prime Minister and will be reviewed tonight by the Cabinet. Mr Bhushan said Team Anna may wait till the Bill is tabled in parliament to decide whether to launch Anna's fast in Mumbai along with a mass protest.
