CPI today condemned the "provocative" Pakistan Army attacks on Indian posts on the Line of Control but asked the government to continue talks with Islamabad saying the attacks were aimed at stalling them.
"The discussions should continue inspite of these provocative attacks which are aimed at stalling the ensuing talks. We feel strongly that the government should go forward with the talks," party General Secretary S Sudhakar Reddy told reporters.
While appealing to the people "not to fall prey to such provocations", he said the government should "take a comprehensive approach to the problem keeping in view the tussle within Pakistan between the democratic forces and Pakistani army."
He said there was "genuine apprehension that Pakistan Army was against normalisation of Indo-Pak relations and does not allow the elected governments there to take any positive initiative of foreign policy."
While Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was making "positive statements on normalisation of Indo-Pak relations which was reciprocated from this side", the recent killing of five soldiers "will provide another opportunity to the jingoists to spoil all attempts for reconciliation," Mr Reddy said.
He said the recent attacks were "repetition of the January episode when an Indian soldier was beheaded and jingoists on both side of the border sabotaged the attempts for resumption of dialogue" between the two countries.
