Support for 8-year-old kidnapped boy grows

Panipat: For the moment there is no direct contact between Tejas and his mother, but she often reads poems to him, keeps his books and other things in good shape and fondly looks at his happy pictures.

Eight-year-old Tejas Gaba was kidnapped from Panipat in Dec 2008 when he was being driven to school by his mother. Two days later a video was sent to the family asking for Rs 10 crore as ransom.

"Hello, Mummy, I am fine. Do whatever these people tell you to...and don't inform the police," Tejas says in the video. His eyes are bandaged with masking tape.

The kidnappers were in touch with the family for three months, but since March 2009 there has been no word about Tejas.

After NDTV reported this story, the Gaba family has received hundreds of mails and phone calls of people calling in for support. (Read: Parents offer 50 lakhs for missing son, 8-year-old Tejas)

"There has been a tremendous response from people...people from all over the world are writing to us and calling me. I am thankful to NDTV as well. I am sure it has become a movement. Now people know about it," says Rajesh Gaba, father of Tejas.

His family says they are willing to forgive the culprits if they send back Tejas home safely.

"I am really hoping that somebody will give us some information. We have also shown Tejas's picture. I hope this will happen now," says Neena Gaba, mother of Tejas.

Last month the case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after Haryana police made no headway. The family has also floated a website to seek more information - www.tejasgaba.com and savetejas.com.

Police have released CCTV footage of the suspect. In case anybody has any information about Tejas, they can call Rajesh Gaba at 9812036741.
