Steps to Ease Arhar Dal Prices Taken at Insistence of Our Ministers: Shiv Sena

The Shiv Sena said that the Maharashtra government had recently conducted 2500 raids across the state and confiscated 55000 metric tonnes of dal.

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena today said the corrective steps to ease the price of pulses, especially arhar dal were taken at the insistence of its cabinet ministers in Maharashtra.

"Price of arhar dal had recently touched Rs 200 a kg which was beyond the reach of the common man. However, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has decided to listen to the Sena ministers and directed the traders to sell arhar dal at a price of Rs 120 a kg. This will bring a huge relief ahead of the upcoming Diwali festival," the Sena said in an editorial in party mouthpiece 'Saamana'.

It said that the government had recently conducted 2500 raids across the state and confiscated 55000 metric tonnes of dal.

The Sena alleged that the previous Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) government was responsible for igniting "the fire of mistrust" among the people and said it is Devendra Fadnavis government's responsibility to douse the flames by using good governance as its tool.

Sena ministers had, on the directive of their leader Uddhav Thackeray, submitted a letter to Mr Fadnavis two days back on the issue of rising prices of tur dal and other pulses.

In the letter, five Sena ministers had said that they have been raising the issue of rising prices of pulses in the last three cabinet meetings but nothing was being done about it.

The ministers also said that they had also been bringing out the issue of widespread resentment in the public over the matter.
