"Nobody wants the Mumbaikers or their property hurt & destroyed. Least of all me. I may not have the same ideologies as the Sena but on the question of me being a patriot, I don't think there should be any confusion. Feel awful that Balasahib and Uddhav have misconstrued my words. The reactions of the Sena workers seems to make me believe that," Khan tweeted.

My Name is Khan is directed by Karan Johar. Theatres in Mumbai have turned into fortresses with unprecedented security for the film's release on Friday. Close to 1800 Shiv Sainiks have been arrested in the last two days, according to the Mumbai police. The Shiv Sena has warned that its members will not allow screenings of the film till Khan apologizes for saying that Pakistani cricketers should have been included in the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL3).

Sixty-three cinemas in Mumbai will screen the film. The police has asked cinema-owners to leave the first three rows empty at every screening. Anyone entering the cinemas to watch the movie will be frisked and asked to provide an ID card. (Read: Mumbai police leave cancelled for SRK's film)
