South-west monsoon sets in over Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: South-west monsoon has set in over Kerala and Lakshadweep. Rain occurred at most places in Kerala and many places in Lakshadweep.

According to meteorology sources, heavy to very heavy rainfall reports in centimetre are Kumarakom 14, Cherthalai 12, Irinjalakuda 11, Kottayam and Mamkompu 10 each. Haripad 9, Kochi airport, Aluva, Kayamkulam and Vaikkom 8 each and Kozhikode 7.

The other chief amounts of rainfall reports in centimetre are Karipur airport 6, Chengannur 5.

The forecast is valid until the morning of May 31. Rain or thunder showers will occur at most places in Kerala and at many places in Lakshadweep.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall will also occur in Kerala and isolated heavy rainfall will occur in Lakshadweep during next 48 hours.
