Shiney's case will be examined if referred: Centre
New Delhi:

The Centre on Monday said it would "examine" the case for necessary action in which a domestic help has accused Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja of raping her, if it was referred to it.

"We would examine the case if the complaint is sent to us," Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge told reporters in New Delhi on the sidelines of a function.

"If the case is sent to Labour departments, we will examine whether the case is violation of labour laws or a case of sexual harassment," he said when asked how the Ministry would deal with the matter.

Kharge said domestic helps are also covered under the unorganised sector.

He presided over the function that marked the opening of the sub-regional liaison office of International Social Security Association (ISSA).

Asked what steps the Ministry is taking to revitalise the employment sector following recession, he said the government is executing the skill development programmes for improving efficiency of workforce and establishment of new ITIs to promote employment.

The Minister was in Geneva last week to attend an ILO meet on global employment crisis that adopted the 'global jobs pact' to create job opportunities.
