Sanjiv Bhatt case: Missing key witness found
Ahmedabad: A key witness in the Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt's affidavit case, who had been missing for the last five days, has now been found. Shrenik Shah claims he was kidnapped by some rival land dealers and was let off near Balasinore in Gujarat's Sabarkantha district on Friday afternoon.

"Shrenik Shah, a witness in Bhatt case who had gone missing since Tuesday, was found at Balasinor in Sabarkantha district," police inspector S B Trivedi said.

"Shah told us that he was kidnapped by six persons from near his house in connection with a land deal that he was brokering. They took him to Balasinor and robbed him of valuables and beat him before leaving him," he said.

"We have recorded Shah's statement and are probing the matter," he added.

A complaint was lodged by Mr Shah's family on Wednesday night after he had gone missing. Mr Shah had earlier given a statement backing claims of Mr Bhatt's junior officer, K D Panth, that he was coerced by the IPS officer to file a statement against Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Based on his statement, Mr Bhatt was arrested last month and later released on bail.
