Sanjay stages sting show, law minister says SP lying

New Delhi:

Sanjay Dutt has said a Union Minister from the Congress party threatened him that the Supreme Court verdict would go against him if he contested for the Samajwadi Pary.

In an exclusive interview to NDTV's group editor Barkha Dutt, Sanjay said he had taped evidence of the conversation he had with this minister in a sting operation which he did all by himself.

When asked why the minister was not being named, Amar Singh, who was accompanying Sanjay didn't bat an eyelid: "We may need to do business with the Minister in the future" was his reply.

Sources say the Samajwadi Party is pointing at the Law Minister. Speaking to NDTV, Law Minister HR Bhardwaj admitted that Sanjay Dutt did meet him at his house at 10:30 in the morning on the day the Supreme Court reserved its verdict. But he called Sanjay Dutt and Amar Singh's allegations a complete lie.

Bhardwaj said he met Sanjay Dutt because of his personal relationship with Sunil Dutt. He said he did not discuss the Supreme Court verdict with him. And in fact Sanjay asked him for his blessings.

Bharadwaj said there was no question of threats, or intimidation. And that Sanjay asked for time to see him as his son.

And, Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh said he found the Law Minister's statement surprising.

Sanjay Dutt also blamed the Congress for killing his father, saying the party's decision to induct Sunil Dutt's opponent Sanjay Nirupam shattered him.

Sanjay said his father died of that pain.
