There were mixed comments on whether the actor's celebrity status has hurt his case.
Some said that justice has prevailed, and some hoped that the actor gets a second chance.
Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi said that expeditious trials are required in the country.
Fans rallied around the Bollywood hero.
