Ruchika molestation case: Rathore loses pension
New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Personnel has completely withdrawn the pension of former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore with effect from June 23.

The decision to completely withdraw the pension was taken by the ministry after a reply was received by the former IPS officer. The ministry had sent a notice to Rathore asking him, why his pension should not be stopped? Usually half pension is curtailed as punishment.

The 68-year-old Rathore, who has spent over a month in high security Burail jail, is serving 18-month jail term in the Ruchika molestation case.

He is undergoing prison term for molesting 14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra, a classmate of his daughter, 20 years ago.

Ruchika, a budding tennis player, had committed suicide three years after being molested by Rathore on August 12, 1990. A Session's Court in Chandigarh had on May 25 enhanced Rathore's jail term from six months to one-and-a-half years while allowing the plea of CBI and the Girhotra family.
