'Not Need-Based, Want Emotional Relationship With Kashmir,' Says Rajnath Singh: Highlights

Srinagar: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and several political leaders to discuss the unrest in the valley. He is addressing the media on the Kashmir unrest.

  • Concerned about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, the PM is also worried about the current state of affairs here.
  • Want to make it clear Indian government does not only want to have need-based relationship with Kashmir, but an emotional one.
  • We do not need any third party to improve ties with Kashmir: Rajnath Singh addresses media in Srinagar.
  • He expresses his condolences to the victims of Kashmir violence.
  • Pakistan is in itself a victim of terrorism, it should not encourage violence in Kashmir.
  • We will constitute a expert committee to find out ways to use non-lethal weapons. The committee will submit report in 2 months.
  • We don't need a third party's involvement to address the situation that prevails in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Want to reiterate that if anyone has any grievances, it can only be solved through dialogue.
  • We will talk to whosoever needed once peace and normalcy is restored in the state.
  • I have conveyed to Jammu And Kashmir Chief Minister that if need be, the injured can be sent to Delhi. Government will make sure that they are treated at AIIMS.
  • Pakistan's role isn't 'pak' (pure) in relation to Kashmir. They need to change their behaviour.
  • Haven't said anything wrong, have just asked them (Pak) to refrain from interfering in internal matters of other country.
  • Our government won't tolerate terrorism in any form. Appeal everyone to help restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
