Kota: In the fight over a challan or traffic ticket to a BJP worker, a Rajasthan lawmaker's husband barged into a police station with a large group and allegedly slapped a police officer. Four policemen, including the officer who was slapped, have been transferred after the brawl in Kota on Monday, which has been partly caught on camera.

Naresh Meghwal, the husband of BJP lawmaker Chandrakanta Meghwal, is seen on camera shouting and arguing with the police. The policemen were surrounded by the belligerent group, which demanded that the traffic fine be cancelled.

The argument soon degenerated into a fight. After Mr Meghwal slapped the police officer, other policemen used batons on the crowd. The workers retaliated by throwing stones at the policemen.

The officer in charge of the police station said a cop was manhandled and thrashed. A complaint was registered against Mr Meghwal and half a dozen BJP workers.

The lawmaker said her husband and other workers were attacked and detained by the police. "No police station should have such cops. They attacked us and many of the workers are in the hospital," she told reporters.

She alleged that in the fight, her sari was torn and her bangles broken.

"Four policemen have been sent to the police lines and a high level enquiry will look into the matter," said Kota Superintendent of Police Sawai Singh Godara.

Rajasthan minister Rajendra Rathore said, "No one has the right to take the law into their hands we will investigate the matter and take appropriate action."

Mr Rathore also said Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had been informed about the incident.
