Rahul Gandhi visits Jammu and Kashmir today; with him Ratan Tata, Kumarmangalam Birla
New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, who is going to be in Srinagar today, has invited a group of the country's top-most industrialists and corporate leaders to join him there as well. They include Ratan Tata, Kumarmangalam Birla, Rajiv Bajaj and Deepak Parekh, among others.

The Congress general secretary, who will be laying the foundation stone of a tunnel that will connect Kashmir with Ladakh, will be in Srinagar for two days, October 4 and 5. The business delegation, which will reach Srinagar separately, is likely to join Mr Gandhi at the Kashmir University campus, where he will be interacting with students.

The last time when Mr Gandhi had interacted with students, they had complained to him about the lack of jobs and investments in the state. He has at that time promised to bring the top industrial and corporate talent in the country to Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr Gandhi is also scheduled to meet Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and talk about the panchayat issue. The Congress is in alliance with Mr Abdullah's National Conference. There was some tension recently between the two allies, when several elected panchayat members quit after some of them were killed by terrorists. Mr Gandhi had demanded that more security be provided to panchayat members. Mr Abdullah, though, had publicly dismissed any tension in the alliance.
