Protest against anti-Islam film: Bandh in Jammu and Kashmir affects normal life
Srinagar: Normal life was disrupted in the Kashmir Valley today due to a strike called by several organisations to protest against an anti-Islam film made in US which mocks the Prophet Mohammad and has enraged the Islamic world.

Schools, shops, business establishments and fuel stations were closed due to the strike called by Kashmir Economic Alliance.

The strike call was supported by hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Kashmir High Court Bar Association and several other religious groups.

The lawyers' body has decided to abstain from work in the courts today as a mark of protest against the film. The roads in most parts of the valley wore a deserted look as public and private transport remained off the roads.

However, some private cars and security force vehicles could be seen plying the roads.

Peaceful protests against the film have been reported from several areas in the city and elsewhere in the valley.
