Programme to Help 1 Lakh Children Resume Their Education: HRD Minister

Mumbai:

Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani today said the Rotary Club of India has partnered with her ministry to help one lakh children, who had stopped going to school due to various reasons, to continue with their education.

"The HRD Ministry will undertake the initiative to ensure that one lakh children, who had to drop out of school for various reasons back, can resume their education," Ms Irani told reporters.

She also announced that Mansi Mahumkar, a blind mallakhamb player from Maharashtra as the brand ambassador of HRD ministry's 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.

Ms Irani participated in a programme organised by YES Bank in partnership with Rotary to launch the 'YES! i am the CHANGE- Responsible Youth Citizen' a national movement to engage youth in India's social transformation.

Over one crore youths across the country would be empowered to work towards women's safety, clean India and harnessing media to accelerate inclusive development. A force of two lakh youth ambassadors will be developed to actively promote the movement pan-India.
