Probe into Chennai train hijack begins

Chennai:

The probe into the country's first collision by a hijacked train that killed 4 and injured 11, suggests one of the men killed in the terrible collision could actually be the hijacker.

Investigators say the hijacker must have been technically savvy.

"He must have been an extremely knowledgeable person. It's not that easy for an unauthorised person to drive a train," said J K S Naidu, Commissioner of Railway Safety.

The loss of life would have been unimaginably high had the hijacked train collided with a passenger train. The probe will also look at whether it was part of a big terror plan.

One of the victims is yet to be identified. The police suspect him to be the hijacker possibly on a suicide mission, though no group has made any claims.
