Vadra was suffering from cirrhosis of liver for the past few years. He underwent treatment for cirrhosis in Max Hospital and was discharged about 12 days ago, a Max Hospital official said.

He was cremated at the Lodhi Road crematorium.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul along with Priyanka and her husband Robert Vadra were present at the cremation.

Differences cropped up between Robert and his father few years back resulting in the son issuing a public notice in newspapers stating that Rajinder Vadra and his brother Richard were "duping" people by promising jobs and other favours while claiming that they were working on his behalf.
