Power blackout at Mumbai Air Traffic Control

Mumbai: The Air Traffic Control (ATC) of the Mumbai Airport was hit by a total blackout that lasted 20 minutes early on Tuesday morning. This is the worrying gist of a report by the Airport Authority of India (AAI).

During this time, air traffic controllers supervised four arrivals and 15 departures.

The AAI's report has been submitted to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which is investigating the power failure.

Officials of Mumbai International Airport Limited which runs the airport counter that the power failure lasted for 10 minutes and that all systems switched into back-up Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) mode.
