Police car hits Delhi University student

New Delhi: While deboarding a bus on Thursday, a Delhi University student, was hit by the official car of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest). The official was not in the car when the incident took place.

After hitting the girl, the driver, identified as Praveen Yadav, tried to flee but was caught hold off by some people and handed over to the police.

"Yadav was on his way to southwest Delhi in the official car. He had put on the blue beacon as well. He hit the victim, identified as Swati Kumari, a final year B.Com student of Maitreyi College, near the Bapu Dham bus stand opposite 35 SP Marg. The victim got stuck between the car and the bus she was deboarding," said a police official.
 
"Swati, a resident of Gurgaon, was on her way to college in a Haryana Roadways bus. After the accident, she was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in a private car by someone. She was later shifted to a private hospital. Her legs and hands have been injured. The driver was also released on bail later," he said. The official confirmed an FIR has been lodged against Yadav at Chanakyapuri police station.
