PM Modi To Attend Function To Mark Golden Jubilee Of Haryana's Creation

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest at a function to be held on November 1 to mark the golden jubilee of Haryana's creation.

PM Modi has accepted the Haryana government's invitation and given an assurance on participation in the golden jubilee function, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said after meeting the Prime Minister here today.

The state government is yet to decide on the place and venue of the state-level golden jubilee function.

The Prime Minister also congratulated the people of Haryana for deciding to hold International Gita Jayanti Mahotsav in Kurukshetra from December 6 to 10 this year, Mr Khattar said.

Various other issues were discussed during the meeting, including HMT Pinjore, developing Hisar airport as an international one or as an integrated aviation hub and setting up of mass rapid transit system from Gurgaon to Bawal at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, he said.

Mr Khattar informed the Prime Minister about various projects in the state, including WIN City to be developed in Kharkhoda by Wanda Group of China, a kerosene-free Haryana by 2017, savings through welfare policies with the use of information technology, a state government release said.

HMT Pinjore is a complex case and the Prime Minister sympathetically heard the issues concerning arrears payable to employees, amendment in VRS proposal and land and assured to get these resolved through the ministry concerned, the Chief Minister said.

Mr Khattar also demanded that an MRO facility be set up in the state with the Defence Ministry's assistance for repair and maintenance of aircraft and helicopters of the armed forces manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

This would be the second such maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in the country, the first having been established at Bengaluru.
