PM Modi Speaks To Nawaz Sharif, Wishes Him Well Ahead Of Surgery

PM Modi wished Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif speedy recovery on a telephonic call.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday received a call from his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif just before the latter was wheeled in for his open- heart surgery in a hospital in the UK today.
     
During the telephonic talk, PM Modi wished Mr Sharif a speedy recovery.

In a tweet, the spokesperson of the Ministry External Affairs Ministry Vikas Swarup said:
PM Modi had on Saturday extended best wishes to Mr Sharif. "My best wishes to PM Nawaz Sharif Sahab for his open heart surgery on Tuesday. And for his speedy recovery & good health," PM Modi tweeted.

Mr Sharif will undergo an open-heart surgery on Tuesday, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had said on Friday.

Mr Asif, also a confidante of 66-year-old Mr Sharif, had said doctors have advised the prime minister to undergo an open-heart surgery, following which he will be staying in the hospital for a week.

"The prime minister will travel after one week, on doctor's permission," he added.
