Penguin to destroy copies of 'The Hindus': Deeply troubled by what it foretells for free speech in India, says Wendy Doniger

With publisher Penguin India recalling all copies of American scholar Wendy Doniger's "The Hindus: An Alternative History" to be destroyed as part of a court-backed settlement with a group that called the 2009 book "insulting to Hindus", Ms Doniger says she is angry and disappointed but is glad that in the age of the Internet, it is no longer possible to suppress a book.
