Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti will chair a meeting of office bearers and workers in Srinagar today as suspense over government formation in Jammu and Kashmir continues.
This will be the second party meeting after the death of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Sources said the agenda of the meeting is to discuss ways to strengthen party at grassroots level and there will be no talks over government formation.
Mehbooba Mufti has earlier indicated that she is not in a hurry to form the government with the BJP in the state.
Sources also said Mehbooba Mufti wants assurance from the ally BJP for implementation of the coalition's common agenda since it is in power at the Centre.
With the BJP maintaining a studied silence on the issue, the hardening of stance by the PDP indicates that the state could be heading for a longer period of Governor's Rule which was imposed on January 8.
