While support has come in for Sharad Pawar from some quarters, the BJP is in no mood to give an inch. The main Opposition party has accused the Agriculture Minister of misrepresenting facts on IPL bidding and demanded that he resign immediately.

Party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad scoffed at the claim of City Corporation Managing Director Annirudha Deshpande that he had bid for an IPL team in his individual capacity and that the Pawars, who own a minority stake in the company, had no role to play in that bidding.

A newspaper report on Friday said the Pawar family owned 16 per cent stake in City Corporation, a Pune company that the report claimed had bid for an IPL team in March this year and lost out to Sahara, which now owns the Pune team.

Pawar has denied any role directly or indirectly.

The BJP demanded strong action against Pawar and said "City Corporation must be probed."
