Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Ranjay dies in hospital: Who said what
New Delhi: Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Ranjay, injured in a scuffle with another inmate in a Jammu jail and admitted to a government hospital in Chandigarh, died this morning. His death could become a diplomatic issue between the two countries.

Here are some political reactions that have started coming in, once the news of his death was officially announced.

Sushil Kumar Shinde, Union Home Minister: We will hand over the body to Pakistan. If they arrange a non-military registered plane, the clearance would be prompt.

Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister, Jammu & Kashmir (on Twitter): Although it's scant consolation I'd like to offer a sincere apology to the family of Sanaullah Haq & my sympathies for their loss. While the inquiry will fix responsibility for any dereliction of duty the fact that this happening at all is a matter of great regret.

Mehbooba Mufti, People's Democratic Party (PDP) President:  Whenever Jammu and Kashmir has a good relation with Pakistan then the whole country has an advantage . But when our country's relation turns bad with Pakistan, then J&K has to suffer.

Sharad Yadav, Janata Dal United JD(U) President: Very sad at the Pakistani prisoner's death. It should not have happened. We should have ensured his security.
