Over 100 Fall Ill After Consuming Food At Funeral Ceremony In Bihar

The condition of the patients have improved after first-aid.

Madhepura: As many as 110 people were taken ill after consuming food at a funeral ceremony in Rupauli panchayat of Bihar's Madhepura district, an official said today.

All the 110 people fell ill after eating food at a 'shhradh' (funeral function) hosted by Sukhan Sharma late last night and were brought to primary health centre (PHC) at Singheshwar, Block Development Officer, Sanjay Kumar Nirala, said.

The condition of the patients have improved after first-aid, PHC in-charge, Dr DN Chaudhary, said.

A team of doctors with ambulances have been stationed outside ward number seven to deal with any more patients there, Mr Chaudhary said.

Meanwhile, the BDO said that he will visit Sharma's house to gather details of the food served during the function.

He said that food sample will be collected for examination to ascertain whether it was contaminated or not.
