Our MPs at work: Foul language, little remorse

For a while, it looked like Lalu Prasad Yadav was going to walk over to the BJP's Ananth Kumar and exact revenge. Mulayam Yadav held Lalu tight, trying to calm him down. This was what brought the Lok Sabha to a dead stop on Wednesday.

Lalu was upset after Kumar said to him, "You are a traitor. You are planning to sell the nation."

This is the third time in as many days that unparliamentary language has been on vicious display.

On Monday, Mani Shankar Aiyer of the Congress called Arun Jaitley, the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, a term used to describe Hitler's politics. The comment was deleted from the records.

On Tuesday, while defending his boss and Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee, a Trinamool MP, Sudip Bandopadhyay shouted "Shut Up!"

Under attack from the BJP, Mani Shankar Aiyar apologised. But the BJP's Ananth Kumar refused to do the same for his verbal attack against Lalu.

And Bandhopadhya said, "I know the etiquette of Parliament in democratic system, I know how to behave on the floor of the House. I should not learn it from the CPM."
