New Delhi:
The Supreme Court today gave a green signal to the Health Ministry's proposal to start online counselling for post-graduate medical courses in the All India Quota.
This means that students need not be physically present at these counselling sessions, and can attend them online. Till now, counselling for the post-graduate medical courses was done at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
This online counselling will not only help cut down the costs for the aspirants and their parents, but also make the entire process more transparent and fair.
There are around 5400 seats for the post-graduate medical courses. The All India Quota covers 50 per cent of post-graduate seats in government medical colleges in all the states. The Health Ministry conducts common counselling sessions for them.
This online counselling is likely to start on Tuesday and National Informatics Centre is making all arrangements for these sessions.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has already conducted its entrance examination and the results are likely to be out on Monday.
