One dies in Baramulla firing, five CISF men arrested
Srinagar: Five Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel have been arrested after a Class 12 student was killed and two others injured after the CISF men opened fire today to disperse a mob in the Bonyar area in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has also lodged a protest with the Centre and is seeking 'exemplary' action against the CISF jawans involved in the incident. The state government has also announced a compensation of Rs one lakh for the kin of the dead.

The incident, reportedly, occurred after the some people in the crowd - protesting against the power crisis in the area - tried to force their entry into the office of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC). CISF personnel guarding the complex allegedly opened fire.

However, eyewitnesses claim that the protesters were not trying to overrun the plant and the incident occurred in the residential area of the NHPC. They also claim that the 16-year-old boy was shot twice in the chest.
