Odisha Rivers Flowing Close to Danger Levels

Bhubabeshwar: Most of the Odisha rivers were flowing close to the danger level on Monday due to heavy rainfall across the state, an official said.

The water level was on the rise in major rivers, including Mahanadi, Devi, Kushabhadra, Vamsadhara and Brahmani, according to officials.

The Vamsadhara river was flowing near the danger level at two places, an official told IANS.

At Kashinagar in Gajapati district, the water was flowing at 53.58 metres against a danger level of 53.60 metres at 6 a.m. Monday, he said.

At Gunpur in Rayagada district, the water was flowing at 82.17 metres against a danger level of 83 metres, he said.

Similarly, Hati river was flowing one metre or three feet above a bridge at Junagarh in the district of Kalahandi, he said.

Heavy rainfall was witnessed in many parts of the state. The Met Office has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall up to July 23.
