No strictures against PM, says Solicitor General

New Delhi: India's Solicitor-General Gopal Subramanium has spoken exclusively to NDTV about the Supreme Court's comments against the Prime Minister in the 2G scam.

The court has asked for an affidavit to be filed by Saturday no behalf of the PM to explain why he took more than a year to respond to a request to sanction the prosecution of A Raja when he was Telecom Minister.

The request was sent by Janata Party president Subramaniam Swamy, who alleged that Raja had broken the rules to grant 2G spectrum at throwaway prices to companies he favoured like Reliance Telecommunications and Swan Telecom.

This week, the court said "the alleged inaction and silence" of the PM is worrying.

The Solicitor General denies reports that the government's legal experts have let down the PM by allowing matters to get to a stage where he was criticized by the Supreme Court.
