No Option But To Accept Ram Gopal's Return In SP: Amar Singh

Amar Singh said he has "no option" but to accept decision of Mulayam to revoke expulsion of Ram Gopal.

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh on Thursday said he has "no option" but to accept the decision of party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to revoke the expulsion of Ram Gopal, considered his arch rival.

"I have no option but to accept (the decision to bring Ram Gopal Yadav back into SP fold). I accept it gracefully," Mr Singh told PTI.

He said nobody in the SP questions the decisions taken by its leader (Mulayam).

"It was the leader's decision to expel (Ram Gopal) and this also is his decision...there was resentment in my return to the SP. But no one questioned it," he said.

To a question on retaining Ram Gopal as leader of SP in Rajya Sabha after his return to the party fold, Mr Singh said it was only an issue of "division of labour" among party leaders and "beyond a point these things do not matter."

"Ghulam Nabi Azad is Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, but former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh (Rajya Sabha MP from Assam) is a member of Congress Parliamentary Party," he said.

He also said though he is not a member of the Yadav clan, and is an outsider, he still has the privilege of being an insider. "I am both an insider and outsider in SP. It is a privilege," he said.

In the feud in the Yadav clan, while Ram Gopal had sided with Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Singh was seen supporting Shivpal Singh and Mulayam.

The two have attacked each other through media in the recent past.
