'No Harm In Travelling Abroad On Someone Else's Money': Minister Upendra Kushwaha

Upendra Kushwaha, is the junior human resources development minister.

Patna: There's trouble brewing in Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Samta Party or RLSP. The party's Lok Sabha leader Arun Kumar hit out at Mr Kushwaha on Friday and asked whether a union minister can travel abroad on expenses paid by a private person.

Mr Kumar alleged that Mr Kushwaha, who is the junior human resources development minister, went on a tour to Indonesia which was funded by alleged hawala dealer Pradeep Mishra.

Mr Kumar accepted that he did not pay for his travel to Indonesia but asked how does it concern anyone till the time he has not done any favours to the person paying for the travel.

"If someone says that they will take me abroad on their expense then I will go today as well. I don't have money to travel abroad myself. As long as I don't do any favours, then it shouldn't bother anyone," Mr Kushwaha told reporters.

Pradeep Mishra claims he is a social and political worker and a close associate of Mr Kushwaha.

Mr Kushwaha and Mr Kumar had a fall out over ticket distribution during last year's Bihar Assembly elections. On Thursday, Mr Kushwaha dissolved the party's Bihar unit headed by Mr Kumar, who is the Jahanabad lawmaker.

"I got a call from Upendra Kushwaha saying the Bihar unit has been dissolved. This has been done in a very arbitrary manner by Kushwaha and his coterie," he said.

Mr Kumar also accused Mr Kushwaha of running the party in an undemocratic and autocratic manner.

The RLSP, a Bihar based party, has three lawmakers in the Lower House and is a part of the ruling National Democratic Alliance or NDA.
