MP BJP president held for code violation

Morena (MP):

Madhya Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Narendra Singh Tomar was arrested on Sunday for allegedly using railway properties for poll campaign, thereby, violating the Model Code of Conduct, sources said.

A case was registered by the Government Railway Police (GRP) on April 6 against Tomar and BJP's national secretary Prabhat Jha and others for embarking on a rail yatra to demand for converting the Narrow Guage line between Gwalior and Sheopur into Broadguage line, they said.

However, Tomar, who is BJP's candidate from Morena Lok Sabha seat, was released on bail immediately after his arrest, GRP sources said.

While undertaking the rail yatra between Gwalior and Sheopur on March 22, Tomar and Jha had addressed BJP workers on the railway stations in between, they said.

Later, a complaint was filed by the Congress on the issue following which a probe was conducted in this regard.
