Mayawati, Mulayam And 'All Secular Parties' Should Get Together To Defeat BJP: Lalu Prasad Yadav

Lalu Prasad Yadav said that the Centre wants to scrap reservation benefits.

Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav today asked all "secular parties" including Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati and Samajwadi Party's Mulayam Singh Yadav to come together and defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

"All secular parties including Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav should come together to defeat BJP. We are united in Bihar. If that happens, BJP's game plan will be finished," Mr Yadav said while talking to reporters here after a meeting of his party's senior leaders.

Stating that the Centre wants to scrap reservation benefits, he said the RJD would launch a movement to put pressure on the government to make the caste census public, besides making allocation in the budget as per their population.

Mr Yadav said the party has decided to hold a three-day national workshop on May 2, 3 and 4 at Bodhgaya in Bihar where party workers would be explained about BJP's politics and taught about ways to counter the party's move.

Later taking a dig at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Lalu Prasad Yadav in a tweet said, "Yogi got the Chief Minister's bungalow purified because earlier, a Chief Minister belonging from Dalit/Backward and Bahujan category lived there for a decade."

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's re-election for a third consecutive term in 2015 was powered largely by Lalu Yadav, whose party won the most seats. The two regional biggies - RJD and Janata Dal (United) - joined hands with the Congress to block the BJP in Bihar, whose campaign was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
