Two Arrested in Delhi for Allegedly Murdering Uzbek Ballet Dancer

New Delhi: A man and a woman have been arrested for the murder of a 27-year-old woman from Uzbekistan in Delhi today.

Police said the Gagan Rajkaran and the Uzbek woman, known here as Naaz, had murdered the young woman, a ballet dancer who had been living and learning Indian dance forms for the last eight years in Delhi.

The woman had gone missing on September 25. Her body was found in Haryana's Samalkha the next day. Postmortem revealed she had been raped, sources said.

The body was found behind the farmhouse of former MLA Kartar Singh Badana. A broken wine bottle was seized from the spot and there were impressions of tyres at the site, indicating that the body was brought in a car and dumped there, sources said.

Police said Gagan and Naaz had killed the woman in Delhi and then carried the tried to Samalkha in a suitcase. They had even tried burn the body to get rid of evidence.

The murder, the police said, was a fallout of financial dispute. Naaz, sources said, had borrowed around Rs 8 lakh from the woman and did not want to return it.
