Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said today that a proposal for a five-day week for government employees as well as increasing the retirement age to 60 years is under serious consideration.
Mr Fadnavis made this statement to a delegation of the Gazetted Officers' Federation who met him to discuss various issues concerning officers and employees in the Maharashtra state government.
A statement issued by the federation stated that the Maharashtra chief minister told the delegation that his government is seriously considering the proposal of a five-day week as well as raising the retirement age to 60 years.
"Providing dearness allowance on the lines of central government employees is our commitment," the statement quoted Mr Fadnavis as saying.
Mr Fadnavis also assured that officials would not be suspended without inquiry and provisions of the MCOCA as well as other acts would be invoked against those involved in violence against government officials, the statement said.
