Jhabua: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated several schemes and development projects worth Rs 135 crore apparently with an eye on a Lok Sabha by-election likely to be held in Jhabua between October and November.

He said that an engineering college named after former President APJ Abdul Kalam would be opened in the district, adding, a model college named after a former BJP Jhabua MP, the late Dilip Singh Bhuria would also be opened.

The Jhabua bypolls have been necessitated due to demise of Bhuria, who was one of the tribal faces of BJP.

"Students should dream big like Kalam. I have dreamt that students of my state should come out with flying colours in IIT, CLAT, IAS and IPS tests in large numbers. By securing top three positions in IIT selection test recently, students from MP have fulfilled this dream of mine," he said.

"As many as 140 SC and ST students from various parts of Madhya Pradesh got selected in IIT," Mr Chouhan said, addressing a students' convention at the Government Post-Graduate College in Jhabua.
