Looking to revive Congress in Bengal, Rahul tours state again

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is on a three-day visit to West Bengal, his second tour of the state this month. He is expected to renew his attack on the Left Front government in the state, where Assembly elections are due next year.

Gandhi started his tour with a visit to Shantiniketan in Birbhum district. This will then be followed by meetings in Basirhat in North 24 Parganas district and Garden Reach in South 24-Parganas district.

During his visit, Gandhi will address three meetings each day with a press conference scheduled on September 16. (Video special: The aam admi's Rahul Gandhi)

In his last visit to the state earlier this month, Gandhi had talked about "two Bengals" and the backwardness of the state inviting sharp reaction from the Left.

Tomorrow, he will visit Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Balurghat in West Dinajpur district.

He will address three meetings at Howrah, Bardhaman and Garhbeta in West Medinipur district and hold press conference at Kolkata on the last day of his visit on September 16. (With PTI inputs)
