Left vs Mamata war reaches Prime Minister

New Delhi: A battle that's getting stormier everyday.

Members of the CPM met the Prime Minister on Friday to complain about Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee. Their charge: Banerjee is encouraging Maoists in the Lalgarh area.

The CPM also said that Maoists here are targeting their cadres; the party attributes a hundred murders since May this year to the Maoists.

"The Prime Minister has assured us that he will forward the Evidence to the Home Ministry for a proper examination," said Sitaram Yechury, who is a member of the CPM Politburo.

Immediately after that, it was Banerjee's turn to visit the Prime Minister with a delegation of MPs from her party, the Trinamool Congress.  Banerjee is the Congress-led UPA government's biggest ally. And she is clear about what she wants: President's Rule.

"We are asking the Central Government to intervene to protect the minorities...the PM is concerned about the law and order in Bengal."

While the Left and Banerjee trade charges, there are new cases reported everyday of Naxals kidnapping and murdering people in Lalgarh.
