Last day of campaigning for phase III polls

Last day of campaigning for phase III polls
Ahmedabad:

Three big guns are going all out on Tuesday in the battle for Gujarat on the last day of campaigning for the third phase of polling on Thursday.

The BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate LK Advani and the man being projected by some within the party as the PM-in-waiting Narendra Modi are pulling out all stops before the state decides.

The fate of LK Advani who is contesting from his pocket borough, Gandhinagar, will be decided on Thursday.

Narendra Modi will be campaigning under the shadow of the Supreme Court's call for him to be investigated for his possible involvement in a conspiracy to fan the violence against the Muslims in Gujarat during the Gujarat riots.

Giving them a tough fight is the Congress party's future Prime Ministerial candidate Rahul Gandhi. He's scheduled to hold rallies in four constituencies.

The Congress has called for Modi's resignation after the Supreme Court order.

Heat matches soaring political temperatures

Matching the soaring political temperatures in Gujarat is the persistent heat wave and the Met office holds out little hope of any relief over the next three days.

Advani will have to hold his roadshow in a scorching 44 degrees Celsius in Ahmedabad. Narendra Modi is holding a rally in Anand where the temperatures are likely to be 43 degrees.

In Mehsana, where Rahul Gandhi will hold his roadshow is also soaring between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius.
