Kerala cops mulling a feature film on terror
Kochi:

In the backdrop of attempts by some terror outfits to recruit Keralites for militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir, the police are mulling making a feature film on the issue in their effort to fight the menace.

Youths from Kerala are increasingly being recruited for terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir, police sources say, and point out that a few months ago some terrorists shot dead in Kashmir were Keralites from Malappuram district.

Confessions of some of the arrested recruits had revealed that many youth from various parts of the state had been indoctrinated and pushed into the terror network, the sources said.

"The Kochi police is toying with the idea of making a film. It is a first-of its kind experiment for which the government sanction has to be taken," Kochi city Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham said.

The film was at a conceptual stage, he said, adding, "This is a new idea to spread the message against terrorism through films."

"We will be preparing a basic outline of the script for submitting it to the government. Work on the project would start only after the sanction," he said.

Top Malayalam actors Mammootty and Mohanlal besides Suresh Gopi and Jairam have pledged their support to the venture, he said.
