New Delhi: The jawans and officers of border guarding force, SSB or Sashastra Seema Bal, will contribute their one day's salary in the Prime Ministers National Relief Fund for the flood relief in Jammu and Kashmir.

"We have decided to pledge our one day's salary for the victims. The amount comes to about Rs 2 crore. These funds will be deposited in the PM's National Relief Fund soon," SSB chief B D Sharma told PTI.

The Director General also said a small team of his force, deployed in the state for internal security-related duties, has begun relief and rescue works amongst the locals.

The force, which is tasked to guard Nepal and Bhutan borders, is also holding medical camps at Hyderpora Chowk and Tengpora Bridge in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, other paramilitary units stationed in Kashmir like Border Security Force and CRPF have also begun relief work to the victims of one of the worst floods in the history of the state.
