Karnataka Budget 2011 aimed at farmers

Karnataka Budget 2011 aimed at farmers
Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa presented the state budget today - and there was very little doubt as to who he was trying to please. It was a pro-farmer budget all the way from reducing the interest rate on crop loans from 3 per cent to 1 per cent to interest-free loans for higher education for the children of farmers.

200 crores have been set aside for organic farming.  Farmers buying agricultural equipment will benefit from subsidies worth 100 crores.

Much attention will be paid to regularising one lakh unauthorised pumpsets. A whopping 1000 crores will be spent on cleaning and maintaining water tanks.
