Jharkhand: Naxals kidnap government official

Ranchi: The family of a Block Development Officer (BDO) in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district, Prashant Nayak, is making a desperate plea.

"The Naxals have given me a message that I should convey their demands to the chief minister. If the CM accepts their demands then they will set my husband free. I have spoken to the CM, and conveyed this to him. I just want my husband freed," Prashant's wife Julie Nayak said.

Prashant was abducted by Naxals more than 48 hours ago; they are demanding the release of top Naxal leaders from various jails across the state, in return for the abducted officer.

Top Jharkhand police officers, including the Director General of Police (DGP) are overseeing combing operations to rescue the BDO.

"We are trying our best, and doing whatever we can to rescue him. We will do whatever we can to rescue him," said D K Pandey, ADG, Operations, Jharkhand Police.

The family is hoping Prashan Nayak come home quickly.
