Jarnail Singh's family in shock

New Delhi:

Journalist Jarnail Singh found immediate fame or infamy after throwing a shoe at Union Home minister P Chidambaram.

His family was also caught in the eye of the storm and admitted even though Jarnail may have over-reacted, his anger is not misplaced.

A small home in the middle of South Delhi suddenly came at the centre stage of the national media.

The family of the 40-year-old Jarnail Singh was shocked by what they saw.

A journalist for the last 15 years, Jarnail lives with his extended family in South Delhi.

According to his family, he is extremely religious and quite emotional but despite that they simply cannot believe that he threw a shoe at the country's Home Minister.

"He was very religious and a very calm person. He rarely got angry but we can never tell what frame of mind a person gets into all of a sudden. It is shocking," said Gurmeet Kaur, Jarnail's wife.

Jarnail was a young boy of 11 year when the Sikh riots tore Delhi apart. At that time, his family spent a week locked inside their house but fortunately they didn't lose anyone.

"Yes, we were usually locked up at home at the time, we used to hear of riots all over the city. It has affected all Sikh families at some level," sighed jasbir Singh, Jarnail's brother.

The Akali Dal may have offered Jarnail a cash award of two lakhs but the journalist is now willing to do anything to take it all back.

"I think he did over react, should not have got so angry," admitted Naseeb Kaur, Jarnail's mother.
