Jammu police officer manhandled

Jammu: In Jammu, a senior police officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner, was manhandled by a family, when Rajnish, who was picked up from his home by the police, died in in police custody.

Rajnish was picked up from home by the police last week for allegedly abducting a woman, Anchal, and forcibly marrying her, a charge she vehemently denies.

"The killers of my husband must be arrested. They should be treated the same way my husband was. I am a widow. I can't live without him," said Anchal.

The girl said she knew Rajnish for a long time. They were in love. She wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. Today she considers herself a widow. She holds her relatives' responsible as they forced her to lodge the complaint.

In Jammu, mostly custodial death of alleged militants create controversies. And deaths of alleged criminals in a police station are rare. But it has added an edge to the discontent about security men in the state.
