Jammu And Kashmir Government Asks Employees To Ensure Full Attendance

Normal life in the Valley remained crippled for the 40th day today.

Srinagar: With normal life remaining paralysed across Kashmir Valley due to widespread protests, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday directed the Administrative Secretaries to ensure full attendance of employees besides warning action under rules for absentees.

The direction was passed by Chief Secretary BR Sharma who chaired a meeting of Administrative Secretaries in Srinagar to review the attendance of government employees, an official spokesman said.

He said Mr Sharma directed the Administrative Secretaries to ensure that all employees working in the departments under their administrative control including the subordinate offices attend to their duties regularly.

The Chief Secretary also instructed that employees, who remain absent without authorization, should be asked to immediately report to their duties, failing which action as warranted under rules should be initiated against them, the spokesman said.

It was also noted that absence of such employees particularly in the educational institutions has been adversely affecting studies of the children, the spokesman said.

Kashmir Valley is on the boil since July 9 following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani. Sixty-three people have been killed and over 8000 others injured in the widespread clashes.
