J&K: Rajouri encounter ends after 2 days, search operation on
Rajouri: The encounter raging between the Army and militants in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir for the last two days, is finally over. The search operation is still on.

An Army jawan and three terrorists were killed in the encounter that began on Saturday afternoon. Another Army Major, a policeman and a civilian were also injured in the gunbattle. The deceased jawan was identified as Sepoy S K Singha. Two of the slain militants were identified as Sajjad Kashmiri and Abu Qamran.

Acting on a tip-off that some militants were hiding in Rajdhani forest belt at Thanamandi, troops of Rashtriya Rifles and police launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area.

Police sources said the suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were involved in the attack on an Army convoy at Der-Ki-Gali in Rajouri district on Wednesday. 

A bus passing through the area was caught in the crossfire and was hit by a volley of bullets in which two passengers were killed and 16 wounded. (With PTI Inputs)
